Intensive Outpatient Services

Many patients find that recovery from substance abuse is more challenging than they had anticipated.  This is a normal stage of the recovery process and is best met with more intensive services than can be offered through traditional outpatient care.  Although outpatient care can provide services weekly if indicated, some patients may require additional care.  To that end, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a service designed to offer counseling for three hours per day for three days each week.  Intensive outpatient programs generally last about six weeks depending on medical necessity.  IOP allows for patients to have extended time with professional staff and peer support specialists to aid in their recovery.  Many patients find IOP to be beneficial in overcoming obstacles to sobriety and recovery.

Appalachian Wellness works with community partners to offer both behavioral health and substance abuse Intensive Outpatient Programs.  If you are a social services or justice program looking to refer a client for intensive outpatient services, please contact us to arrange an appointment.
